We are both recently retired and in our late 50’s based in Leeds with two grown up daughters. After a career working in marketing I had started to have quite a few health issues and felt it was time to start enjoying life rather than worrying about the bottom line of a multi-national.

We are pleased that you can join us on our journey and we will look to provide updates of what we have been up to and hopefully you find them useful and provide some inspiration along the way

We will look to provide updates and reviews from our travels and also events and restaurants we have visited nearer home, so from a UK perspective there will be a Leeds bias. We will also include general updates on what we have been up to, or has caught our eye, as we enter our golden years!

1. How Often Do You Travel A Year?

We look to go away 2 – 3 times a year typically, depending on other commitments in the UK.

2. How Can You Afford To Travel So Often?

The main reason is that we avoid going during school holidays which makes a massive difference to the costs.

3. Do You Have Any Favourite Locations

Yes we have a soft spot for the Canaries and have visited Gran Canaria 7 times (all staying in the same hotel!) and also visit Lanzarote (specifically Playa Blanca) at least once a year staying in hotels and villas. Recently we have been to Tenerife a few times as when booking short notice holidays (the benefit of being retired!) the weather has looked better.

4. Is There Anywhere You Don’t Travel To?

Not really. The only caveat to that is that as we have got older the appeal of long haul has really diminished and as there are so many amazing places to visit and cultures to explore in Europe we tend to choose to go there.
